Yangjiang Knife Manufacturers: A Complete Sourcing Guide to China's "Knife Capital"
Yangjiang produces over 70% of China's knives. From carbon-steel chef knives to stainless scissors — this guide breaks down the Yangdong / Jiangcheng industrial structure, price bands, certification thresholds and how to find source factories.
Yangjiang is China's undisputed "Knife Capital": 1,500+ knife & scissors makers and supporting firms, ~500 million pieces per year, exported to 100+ countries. International brands (ZWILLING, WMF, Supor, Shibazi) either own plants here or outsource long-term to local big factories. For SMB buyers, the supply chain is mature and MOQs are flexible — but you still need to tell real makers from re-branders.
Where the factories sit: Yangdong vs Jiangcheng
Yangdong District is the core: home to Shibazi, Jin Hui and other leading makers plus many small workshops, focused on mid-to-high chef knives, outdoor blades and scissors. Jiangcheng leans toward hardware fittings and cutlery accessories. For tier-1 makers, look at Yangdong; for small-batch value, look at Jiangcheng's surrounding townships.
Price bands (FOB Shenzhen)
Household 3-piece set (cleaver + chef + paring): USD 3–8/set; professional 8-piece chef set: USD 15–45; single 8" high-carbon chef knife: USD 2.5–6; private-label stainless scissors: USD 0.8–2.2/pc. Below these bands, expect recycled steel or thinner blade stock.
Certification & testing thresholds
EU exports require LFGB / EU 1935/2004 food-contact testing; the US requires FDA; Japan requires JIS. Established Yangjiang makers can produce these; small domestic-only workshops usually cannot. For food-contact items, never order without a test report.
How to shortlist
Step 1: filter our "Find Factories" directory by "knives" in Yangjiang. Step 2: prioritize BSCI-audited makers with 100k pcs/month capacity. Step 3: order samples from 3 shortlisted makers and compare edge sharpness, rust treatment and handle bonding. If you need us to shortlist or audit on your behalf, post a sourcing requirement.
