Lianjiang Rice Cooker Factory Guide: OEM Sourcing in West Guangdong's "Small Appliances Capital"
Lianjiang produces ~60 million rice cookers a year — nearly one third of China. This guide covers OEM MOQs, 3C/CE certification, inner-pot materials, and how to avoid the "Lianjiang cheap" trap.
Lianjiang (county-level city under Zhanjiang) is known as "China's Hometown of Rice Cookers": 70+ complete makers (Huaqiang, Weiwang, Sanjiao) plus hundreds of component suppliers (inner pots, thermostats, cords, tooling). For cross-border buyers, the upside is low OEM/ODM barriers and fast lead times; the pitfall is low-spec budget builds.
OEM MOQ & price bands
Mechanical 1.8L cooker: USD 6–10/unit, MOQ 1,000; digital timer model: USD 12–22/unit, MOQ 500; IH induction model: USD 30–55/unit, MOQ 500. Custom logo (silk-screen / laser) is usually free; custom color box adds USD 0.4–0.8/unit.
Inner pot: the cheap trap lives here
The most common downgrade is swapping a 3mm aluminium-alloy pot for a 1.5mm tin-plate pot with non-stick spray. Weight is halved, heat is uneven, and the coating peels off within six months. At inspection, lift it: a 1.8L pot under 350g is a warning sign. Legit makers proactively provide material certificates.
Certification checklist
Domestic China: 3C is mandatory. EU: CE / RoHS / REACH. US: UL / ETL / FCC. Saudi: SASO. Iraq: COC. Lianjiang's big plants can usually bundle these — but verify the factory name on the certificate matches the plant you are ordering from; some plants borrow the group's certificate.
Recommended shortlisting path
Filter "Find Factories" by "small appliances / Lianjiang". Prioritise plants producing 50k+ units/month with their own die-casting workshop — plants that outsource the inner pot have wider QC swings. Start with a 500-unit trial; only scale up after the thermostat passes a 3,000-cycle life test.
